This property resides on a peaceful ravine. The homeowner has a deck that overlooks a neighbor’s dilapidated garage/shed. Tall fencing was not allowed, and the area has heavy shade and a large deer population that eats vegetation. The solution was to layer the border of the client’s property with a series of screens, shade tolerant evergreens and deciduous trees and deer resistant native vegetation. The end result is a beautiful and very natural looking woodland area that screens the undesired view.
Having removed a hot tub that was built into the deck, the homeowner wanted a fire pit area for family and friends. We prepared two different options for the client – one removing the deck that housed the old hot tub and creating a lannon stone patio that accommodates lots of Adirondack chairs and a wood burning firepit. It complements the organic feel of the property and offers a safe surface on which to burn wood. The second option was to repair the deck area that housed the hot tub with matching ironwood planks, and situate chairs and a propane gas fire table on the deck for use close to the house.
